Resilience | Fulfilment | Wellbeing
There is always a story behind how you ended up where you are right now. We want to help you uncover it.
Indus is the English name for the Sindh River, which flows through today’s northeast Afghanistan, Pakistan and northwestern India. It was the home to the Indus Valley Civilisation, one of the three major Bronze Age civilizations along with ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.
The Indus Valley civilisation led to the development of the first known written language and one of the oldest surviving intact cultures. They invented the zero (0), mindfulness, yoga and the art of being present and fulfilling your responsibilities while looking after your own body and mind.
Just as a flowing river supports and sustains all living things along its course, the content of your thoughts is also essential for keeping our physical well-being.
Modern life doesn’t always meet important parts of our biological and social needs, and our ancestors definitely had sleep hygiene, physical wellbeing and small community focus worked out. Ignoring one part of our needs can introduces an imbalance in other areas, which is something we can learn from humanity’s acestors.
THE OLD AND THE NEW COMPLETE EACH OTHER
At Indus, we want to combine traditional knowledge with modern research to create more effective and sustainable interventions. We aim to rely on cutting edge developments in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Neurobiology in conjunction with this ancestral wisdom to guide our treatment while tailoring it to your specific needs and life demands in simple and meaningful ways at The Local Doctor Ivanhoe. Be rest assured however that at no point the inspiration from our ancestors would lead to us imposing our own world view or beliefs on you.
